Hobbies
I’ve been an avid reader ever since I learned how. It’s been a never-ending source of thrill and enlightenment for me. I usually tend towards science-fiction, but I love fantasy and non-fiction topics as well. When I was younger, Neal Asher and Ian Banks were great influences on me, as were the Redwall and the Tunnels sagas. Of course, I also love to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Hiking is one of my favorite ways to do so, whether I’m exploring local trails or venturing further afield. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of being surrounded by nature, breathing in fresh air, and pushing myself to reach new heights.
When it comes to gaming, I enjoy losing myself in virtual worlds and solving new and exciting problems. Minecraft and Civilzation are among my favorites, but I also enjoy other games like Factorio, Skyrim and of course, anything that’s Star Wars.
Tinkering with electronics is a hobby that I find frustrating as it is rewarding. The process from idea to prototype is never straightforward. But there’s nothing like the feeling of accomplishment after you make an image in your mind become reality.
As a kid, I would check out every young reader’s book on astronomy the local library had to offer, finish them in a week, return them, and do the same at the next nearest library. Still today, the Universe’s phenomena never cease to amaze me. I like to keep up-to-date with astronomical news and space travel in general. Often I’ll spend evenings gazing up at the night sky, identifying planets and stars.
Finally, I love to spend time with my friends. Playing games together is one of our favorite ways to do so. Whether we’re gathered around a board game, playing online or cooking dinner together, spending time with my friends is incredibly valuable to me.
